Student Medical Mutual Aid
Purpose
- The Student Medical Mutual Aid Association is operated to promote student welfare by providing appropriate medical expense support to CBNU students who receive treatment at designated medical institutions due to illness or injury.
Eligibility
Students who have paid the SMMAA membership fee are eligible for benefits.
- Students who pay the fee before the semester begins will receive benefits from the first day of the semester.
- Students who pay the fee after the semester begins will be eligible from the payment date.
Loss of Eligibility
- Students lose their eligibility upon graduation, leave of absence, expulsion, or death.
Designated Medical Institutions
- All national primary, secondary, and tertiary medical institutions, including private clinics.
Medical Expense Coverage Criteria
Grade | Coverage Details |

Grade 1 (Death) | General death: ₩5,000,000 / Work-related death: ₩10,000,000 |
Grade 2 (Injury) | Full reimbursement of personal share up to ₩5,000,000 per year |
Grade 3 (Inpatient Treatment) | 70% of actual paid health insurance-covered expenses; Up to ₩800,000 per semester (includes outpatient costs) |
Grade 4 (Outpatient Treatment) | 70% of actual paid health insurance-covered expenses; Up to ₩400,000 per semester |
Exclusions (Limitations)
Medical expenses will not be covered under the following conditions:
- Claimed amount is less than ₩30,000
- More than 2 claims per semester for the same illness/treatment
- Claim submitted over 6 months after final treatment date
- Treatment occurred before SMMAA fee was paid
- Treatment for cosmetic or elective surgery
- Injury or death resulting from traffic accidents or violence
How to Apply for Medical Reimbursement
- Submission Office: SMMAA Office, Student Support Division (2F, University Main Building 1-1)
- Required Documents:
- - SMMAA Application Form
- - Medical Certificate (with diagnosis, code, and treatment date)
- - Official Receipt
- Deadline: Within 6 months from the treatment date
- - Graduating students: By graduation date
- - Completing coursework students: By end of semester
- - (6-month limit does not apply to these students)
Additional Information
- Students treated at Jeonbuk National University Hospital receive a 20% discount on both covered and non-covered charges (excluding material costs), provided that a certificate of enrollment is submitted within 7 days of the treatment date.
